Even though the Canadiens' general manager has not yet completed any transactions, he is working very hard to solidify the elements in place, as evidenced by the long-term contracts given to Juraj Slafkovsky and Kaiden Guhle.
But that doesn't mean he's not active on the phone, and as reported by the site Marqueur, a journalist believes that Kent Hughes could be active before the start of the next training camp.
Trege Wilson, of The Hockey Writers, made three predictions about what could happen with the Canadiens during the offseason, and his number one prediction was that Josh Anderson will be traded.
According to him, Anderson's last season (only 9 goals and 11 assists) could be seen as an anomaly by some teams, considering he had 19 and 21 goals in the previous two seasons.
The 30-year-old forward could very well bounce back in 2024-2025, and Wilson's comments make sense, as Anderson could become an important asset for a team aiming for the playoffs.
However, his $5.5 million per year salary for another three seasons could be a deterrent for some teams, and it is more logical to think that Kent Hughes will try to trade Josh Anderson next summer, especially if he returns to being a 20-goal-per-season scorer.
