When things are going well, you shouldn't get too carried away.
When things aren't going well, you shouldn't panic too much.
However, we can't help but notice that the Montreal Canadiens are in the mix, in the playoff race, and in these circumstances (especially if this continues), it will inevitably force Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton to revisit their plans.
I do believe that the impressive turnaround in Montreal could force Kent Hughes to reconsider certain decisions, even if I don't see him suddenly becoming a "buyer" at the NHL trade deadline.
However, some take this even further.
This includes David Ettedgui, a player agent and sports columnist, notably for BPM Sports:
Others share the same sentiment and claim that Kent Hughes may be rethinking some proposed trades, notably involving David Savard and Jake Evans.
Will Savard and Evans ultimately stay with the Montreal Canadiens, even though their contracts expire at the end of the season?
Will the recent winning streak lead Kent Hughes to decide to keep his rental players instead of trading them?
These are valid questions, and it will be very interesting to monitor over the coming weeks.
Interestingly enough, the Canadiens are now just three points away from a playoff spot.
According to all indications and several reports, Kent Hughes seems to have genuinely changed his mind on a few matters, especially those involving Savard and Evans.
This is a good thing because these are two players who are incredibly valuable to the team
