Over 20 players have been placed on waivers: the Montreal Canadiens hold a top-5 priority
We have some action on the NHL waiver wire, particularly from the Pittsburgh Penguins.
While the very first regular-season game is currently underway between the New Jersey Devils and the Buffalo Sabres, massive roster moves continue in the NHL.
Several players placed on NHL waivers, including seven from the Pittsburgh Penguins
Among them is Quebec native Samuel Poulin, who was the 21st overall pick in 2019 (first round of the draft) and tallied 31 points in 41 games in the AHL last season.
He has six games of NHL experience.
Defenseman Ethan Bear is also a name to watch on this impressive list, which is as follows:
«Harkins (ANA)
DiPietro, Lettieri, Oesterle (BOS)
Lockwood (FLA)
Ward (LA)
Dowling, Hardman, Laberge, Legare, Willman (NJ)
Lycksell, Richard (PHI)
Bemstrom, Clurman, Gruden, Koppanen, Kral, Ludvig, Poulin (PIT)
Tomkins (TB)
Steeves (TOR)
Bear, Philp, Sgarbossa (WASH)»
We also notice the names of goaltenders Mikey DiPietro and Matt Tomkins, two netminders who have previously played for Team Canada, so they are two goalies you might be familiar with.
More details will follow, but please note that all players placed on waivers yesterday have cleared the process without being claimed.
Therefore, they will all have to report to their respective AHL affiliate teams.
Speaking of personnel moves and AHL assignments, let's recall one of the news stories of the day in the NHL:
Is Yaroslav Askarov going to request a trade again?
Also, let's remember that the Montreal Canadiens have a top-5 priority when it comes to claiming players on waivers.
For now, Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton have remained patient.
