Renowned insider Elliotte Friedman from Sportsnet has just revealed that a big move was attempted with the Anaheim Ducks by general manager Pat Verbeek.

It seems the Ducks were not messing around this summer, both on the trade market and in the free agent market.

Let's indeed recall that, according to exclusive information from Marco Normandin, the Ducks and the Canadiens had a trade in place involving Trevor Zegras and Logan Mailloux.

But that's not all.

The Ducks aimed high, and not just with Logan Mailloux and the Montreal Canadiens

According to Elliotte Friedman, Anaheim also made significant moves on the free agent market.

Pat Verbeek tried to sign both Steven Stamkos and Jonathan Marchessault, similar to what the Nashville Predators ultimately achieved. Wow.

«Friedman on 32TP: «Another interesting thing about the Ducks this year is that I think they made serious efforts in the free agent market. I think they pushed hard for Stamkos, and I believe they really went after Jonathan Marchessault. It seems like they want to ramp up again.»

Just like Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens, it's clear that Verbeek and the Anaheim Ducks want to turn the corner in their rebuild.

The Ducks will be a team to watch closely over the coming months.
