We have some action on the National Hockey League waiver wire and an additional option for Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens with Nicolas Aube-Kubel.

Indeed, as reported by sources such as Renaud Lavoie and Elliotte Friedman, the Buffalo Sabres have just placed forward Aube-Kubel on waivers, which is a surprise under the circumstances.

Nicolas Aube-Kubel on waivers: an option for Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens?

He could be an interesting alternative if the Canadiens ever want to move on from Michael Pezzetta, especially while waiting for Emil Heineman's return to action.

His new team will be determined tomorrow afternoon at 2:00 PM.

Waivers: Will Kent Hughes be tempted by a former client?

He had done just that with Colin White nearly exactly a year ago.

Aube-Kubel, 28 years old, was the 48th overall pick by the Philadelphia Flyers in 2014 (2nd round) and has totaled 80 points, including 32 goals, in 301 NHL career games, with 200 penalty minutes.

He is an energetic player, a good teammate, and earns only $1.5 million per year.

This season with the Buffalo Sabres, he has recorded two points in 19 games, and his best career season dates back to 2022 when he tallied 22 points in 67 games with the Colorado Avalanche, during which he also won the Stanley Cup.

A case to follow in the coming hours in the National Hockey League.

We all remember that unforgettable moment when he dropped the Stanley Cup during the team photo.
