As you may have noticed in the last few years, NHL players have been using tablets more and more on the bench. They immediately want to see their good and bad shots at the expense of the action taking place in front of their eyes.

One player who really likes to use this technology is New York Rangers forward Mika Zibanejad. However, last year, in the midst of the playoffs, Zibanejad suffered the wrath of teammate Chris Kreider, who didn't appreciate the use of the device on the bench.

It's proof that the use of this technology during games is a controversial topic. In a recent interview with Eric Engels, CH head coach Martin St-Louis revealed that he has imposed a new rule on the use of electronic tablets during games.

The coach has forbidden his players to watch recent footage during game minutes. They must wait for commercial breaks. He explains that he believes that a player who spends too much time on these screens can miss the important moments created by his teammates and that he should instead watch the game to understand the strategies used on the ice.

"If you come off the ice and you're constantly looking at your footage on the iPad, to me, you're self-centered (selfish)" - Martin St-Louis

St-Louis seems to be taking a cue from his mentor, John Tortorella, who recently took the shelf off the Flyers' bench. It remains to be seen if the CH coach will give his players the opportunity to watch their games during commercial breaks for much longer.
