Jesperi Kotkaniemi calls out the Canadiens in his latest interview and it's causing a stir
Last night, the topic of the Montreal Canadiens came up during a press conference with forward Jesperi Kotkaniemi.
The young player explained that for the first time since the winter of 2020, his grandparents had come to see him play hockey.
It was the first time in his life that his grandparents saw him in action, in person, and here's why:
«It was good. My grandparents traveled the night before [Monday]. When they came to Montreal, I had been sent down to the minor leagues that same day. That's what Montreal had decided. So, they had never seen me play in the National League. I feel good now and here.», Kotkaniemi, via The Hockey News magazine.
His face said a lot, let's say. You could feel that he still had it on his heart.
He explained that, unlike the 2020 season when he was with the Canadiens, Kotkaniemi was finally able (last night) to delight his grandparents, who had come from far to see him play.
«Three years earlier, when he was part of the Montreal Canadiens roster, the Finn thought he could showcase his skills under the watchful eye of his family for a regular season game. However, the organization of the Canadiens had thwarted his plan by demoting him to the Laval Rocket, in the American Hockey League.» - Via TVA Sports
Kotkaniemi scored a big goal on 4 shots in a 6-3 victory for his team against the Vegas Golden Knights.
