A former Montreal Canadiens prospect has just moved to the Colorado Avalanche organization, and it's Brett Stapley
In the last few minutes, the Colorado Avalanche's AHL affiliate, the Colorado Eagles, announced the signing of forward Brett Stapley.
If his name sounds familiar, that's perfectly normal.
Stapley was a 7th-round draft pick of the Montreal Canadiens in 2018, and he was recently ranked as the 20th-best prospect for the Habs, thanks to his breakout performance in the NCAA.
Stapley, 24 years old, is a 5-foot-10, 173-pound center who recorded 43 points in 41 games in his most recent NCAA season, and 52 points in 57 games with the Trois-Rivières Lions (the team's leading scorer).
He is now making the move from the ECHL club affiliated with the Montreal Canadiens to the AHL club affiliated with the Colorado Avalanche.
He was an unrestricted free agent for a few weeks.
We wish him the best of luck in Colorado!
