For those who still doubt that hockey is neglected in the United States, here is yet another absolutely blatant example.
In the past few days, ESPN revealed its ranking of the 100 best athletes of the 21st century.
And you will never guess where Connor McDavid is ranked...
You read that right.
The one who is undoubtedly the best hockey player in the world, who is (according to many) the best hockey player of the 21st century, and who is (according to many) the best hockey player of all time, Connor McDavid, is ranked 98th.
Despite what has happened in recent months, he almost didn't even make the list (top-100). Incredible.
To give you an example, alongside McDavid, we find Ed Reed, who was an excellent NFL defensive player, notably for the Baltimore Ravens, but who is far from having the impact that number 97 has had on his sport.
It's so unfortunate to see that once again, Connor McDavid is not respected at his true value in North America.
Journalist David Staples, among others, is stunned to see more than seven WNBA players among the many athletes who rank ahead of McDavid on this list.
It is extremely difficult to dominate and excel in hockey, so McDavid really deserves more credit.
Connor McDavid, 27 years old, has accumulated 982 points in 645 games, plus 117 points in 74 NHL playoff games.
He is exceptional!
And you, where would you place Connor McDavid on this list?
