We have some rather special news regarding former Montreal Canadien Phillip Danault.

Clearly, it's not just the Habs that are heavily impacted by injuries these days, as the Los Angeles Kings have had to send a forward to defense in the past few hours.

And the lucky choice was none other than Phillip Danault.

This speaks volumes about the immense trust the Kings' coaches have in him.

Phillip Danault was used as a defenseman by the Kings last night

They were short on defensemen due to multiple injuries, so Danault was used as an emergency defenseman, along with the excellent Adrian Kempe.

«Kempe and Danault both played on defense tonight due to Anderson's absence.» - Andrew Knoll

They were utilized in both positions, from what we understand.

By all accounts, Danault handled himself very well in defense, unsurprisingly.

He finished the game with 1 point, 3 shots on goal, 3 blocked shots, and an even plus/minus rating, in just over 17 minutes of ice time.

This season, the 31-year-old Danault has 8 points in 15 games, including one goal, with a positive plus/minus of +4.

We wish him a great season with his Los Angeles Kings, who are starting to slightly climb back up after a tough start to the season.

He was probably one of the biggest losses for the Montreal Canadiens' lineup in recent years, likely tied with Sean Monahan, who is also having an incredible start to the season with his Columbus Blue Jackets.

Details to follow.
