MAJOR: Pierre-Luc Dubois' Time in Los Angeles Already Over?
Last summer, Pierre-Luc Dubois somewhat chose the team to which he wanted to be traded. While many thought he would land in Montreal, it was under the California sun, more precisely in Los Angeles, where he ended up.
Although it is only the first year of his lucrative eight-year contract valued at $68M, there does not seem to be a love affair between the fans and the Quebec player. A Kings fan has already publicly expressed his dissatisfaction with his inconsistency and nonchalance.
«TRADE DUBOIS.
I'm sick of his sh*t. Even with 1.2 secs left in the game the way he just unilaterally decides to not even shoot there and just cruise off while others are hunched ready for a rebound. Play to the goddamn whistle.
Enough is enough. 57 games. I'm done with him..»
We can very well understand him as Dubois has only accumulated 26 points, including 13 goals, in 58 games this season. It's very disappointing, especially for a player who earns an average of $8.5M per season.
We must also not forget that in addition to his contract, the Kings paid a hefty price by trading the rights to Gabriel Vilardi and Rasmus Kupari, Alex Iafallo, and a 2nd round pick, namely the Canadiens' pick during the 2024 draft. They are currently doing very well in Winnipeg. Vilardi, with his salary of $3,437,500, has already accumulated 30 points in just 38 games this season.
Dubois will therefore have to pull himself together and show the fans that he deserves his contract. If he does not put points on the board, he must above all show that he wants to get involved. Otherwise, he may find the next seven years quite long.
Just imagine if he had ended up in Montreal...
We're talking about the fans, but even the Kings' management is starting to publicly lose patience with Pierre-Luc Dubois.
