Philippe Boucher, the current general manager of the Drummondville Voltigeurs in the QMJHL and a former NHL defenseman, made an interesting intervention on TVA Sports.

He was asked (also) about the famous first overall pick of the Montreal Canadiens for the next draft.

See what he had to say, interesting! :

"Lafreniere against the first overall pick, I do. I don't think the Rangers would do it. I don't think with the young players established in the NHL there, that they're going to want to do it.

Dubois, would we have to trade the first overall pick to do it? I'm not sure. We have a lot of decisions to make. I'd be surprised to see the Habs move." - Boucher

A topic that continues to get fans talking and fuel discussions/debates. In the case of the Voltigeurs GM, it is understood that he would not trade the first overall pick unless it is for Quebec's Lafreniere. (this is the only condition)

Boucher adds:

"Could the Habs trade the first pick and also go for the Devils' second overall? Because they would have a pick to sell. We have to be careful, I don't think the 2022 draft will look like the QMJHL draft either (where there are several major pick trades). Would we see clubs trading away first, second and we're talking about Ottawa maybe trading away their number seven pick? I have my doubts, honestly."

Either way, Boucher believes that players who will play 1,000 games in the NHL, and star players, are out there in this draft. It's just a matter of finding them.
