Moritz Seider was the 6th overall pick at the 2019 NHL Draft, while Steve Yzerman and his group saw him in their soup. We are talking about a 20-year-old defenseman, who plays as if he were 30, and then he is making his mark on all aspects of the Detroit Red Wings blue line.
The German is 6 feet 4 and weighs nearly 200 pounds, and he uses his height wonderfully well. When he hits an opponent, it hurts, even if he doesn't hand out five checks per game.
Add to this that he is able to play «mean», that he collects points (29 in 47 games) and that he plays excessively (an average of 22 minutes of ice time 39 so far).
We are talking here about a pearl, as was Nicklas Lidstrom, but the two are very different since, according to Paul Bissonnette, Seider is the next Chris Pronger. That's quite a statement, sir!
«You know what I see? I see the next Chris Pronger!» said Bissonnette.
Like Cale Makar, he is already a star in his position at such a young age, which is amazing!
