Following the game against the Pittsburgh Penguins, many fans and observers of the Montreal Canadiens have turned their attention to Mike Matheson.
For several weeks, Juraj Slafkovsky has been struggling to accumulate points on the power play (despite his goal on Saturday), and here's possibly why.
It's certainly not intentional from the veteran Matheson, but the fact is that he seems to constantly neglect Slafkovsky on the PP.
And as a quarterback, it's up to Matheson to involve the young Slovak more.
One can understand trying to create scoring chances for the excellent Cole Caufield (and preferring Caufield), but it could also help Cole to involve Slafkovsky more.
It would take some pressure off the 22.
We repeat. It's surely not intentional, but let's face it, it's very rare that Matheson is seen feeding Slafkovsky.
A sequence from Saturday's game has surfaced and quite clearly proves the point.
Slafkovsky is often available for a one-timer on the power play, but he rarely receives passes from the veteran.

Let's hope it changes after the break.
The goal here is not to blame Matheson, but it makes us realize that Slafkovsky could be used even better. (which would help him to blossom more)
Because yes, Slafkovsky's potential is huge!
