We will have a player from the Montreal Canadiens organization at the Spengler Cup!

In the last few minutes, through the information of the excellent Anthony Marcotte, we learned that Quebec defenseman Nicolas Beaudin has been released by the Canadiens organization to represent Canada at the Spengler Cup, starting December 26th in Davos, Switzerland.

Congratulations to Nicolas!

This is a loss for the CH's farm team, but let's mention that despite his 6 points in 13 games with Laval this season, Beaudin has been left out on several occasions.

He will therefore be temporarily replaced.

It's rare for an NHL team to release a player for this event, but the Canadiens (via the Rocket) could afford to do so here.

Clearly, Kent Hughes did not intend to bring him to Montreal in the short term.

Marcotte mentions that Canada needs him more than the Rocket.

Go Canada!

Beaudin, 24 years old, is a 1st round pick (27th overall) of the Chicago Blackhawks in 2018.
