As you are no doubt aware, Hockey Canada has caused quite a stir by making the decision to completely ignore young Logan Mailloux, despite his brilliant season with the London Knights.
A surprise to start the week. Mailloux did not receive an invitation to represent his country at the World Junior Hockey Championship.
As reported by our colleagues at Fanadiens, in the last few hours, a Canadian coach made a major revelation, and it's being characterized by many as quite a slap in the face to the young Mailloux.
Not only was Mailloux not invited, but he was never given a chance. He was never considered by Hockey Canada (basically, they didn't want anything to do with inviting him).
"I'm going to be very transparent, his name was never mentioned," revealed Julien, who leads the Sherbrooke Phoenix in the QMJHL. I've never seen his name on the lists. The reason why he's not there, I have no idea." - Stéphane Julien
Ouch! A slap in the face for the youngster, who probably had certain expectations.
What is your opinion on this? Are you surprised?
At this point, it will be up to Mailloux to continue his momentum and make Hockey Canada regret it.
Mailloux, 19 years old and 6 feet 3 inches tall, has 10 goals and 19 points in 21 games this season in the OHL. He was drafted 31st overall in 2021 by the Montreal Canadiens.
