The excellent Alex Burrows gave a generous interview last night to Jean-Charles Lajoie and, as reported by the TVA Sports network, he revealed an important information.
It's not necessarily a surprise, but still!
We've suspected for a while that the Montreal Canadiens' management was focusing on three players (Shane Wright, Juraj Slafkovsky and Logan Cooley) for their first overall pick, but it had never been confirmed.
And while it was not expected, Burrows made a statement that quickly made the rounds on the web:
"I watched a little bit of Juraj Slafkovsky at the World Championships, but I didn't look at it in as much detail as our scouts did. I also watched a little bit of Shane Wright in the OHL series and did the same with Logan Cooley. It looks like it will be one of those three players, I guess. They seem to be on every scout's list. Regardless, it's going to be a great player that we draft and I look forward to working with in September."
So it seems settled: Montreal will draft Juraj Slafkovsky, Shane Wright or Logan Cooley.
Burrows may have said too much, perhaps our colleagues at TVA Sports see it as too big, but it was noteworthy:
It does seem like important information.
