Austin Watson, one of the players that Montreal Canadiens fans hate the most, remains an exceptional person, despite his rough and tumble style of play. He doesn't look like a nice guy, but in real life he always has a big smile on his face and is one of the great leaders in the Ottawa Senators' dressing room.
Watson spent nearly six seasons with the Nashville Predators and has been around three great captains - Shea Weber, Mike Fisher and Roman Josi. On the subject of Weber, Watson had high praise for the Canadiens captain, who has helped him become a better leader and a better human being.
"I'm extremely fortunate. During my time in Nashville, I've had three captains - Shea Weber, Mike Fisher and Roman Josi. Each in their own way has influenced me. Shea is one of the best leaders in the history of hockey, in my opinion. He is definitely the greatest leader of his generation. He was the first to show me how to deal with people. All the players deserve the same respect. Every other member of the medical staff, every equipment person deserves the same respect. I say that, but the other two captains had the same attitude."
With the reading of this speech, you certainly understand how colossal the absence of Shea Weber will be for the Montreal Canadiens, even if he has established a culture and an attitude since his arrival. He is a great among the greats!
