BREAKING: Canadiens Terminate Defenseman's Contract

While the Canadiens players are slowly leaving today for a week off, Kent Hughes had not finished his work.

He has just placed a young defenseman on unconditional NHL waivers in order to terminate his contract.

Nicolas Beaudin released by the Montreal Canadiens

See the official statement.

"The Canadiens submit defenseman Nicolas Beaudin to unconditional waivers for the purpose of terminating his contract, following a mutual agreement."

So it's over for Beaudin within the Tricolore organization, unfortunately.

24 years old and a native of Chateauguay, Beaudin is a 1st round pick (27th overall) of the Chicago Blackhawks in 2018. He did not have the brilliant start to his career that was expected of him.

He collected 6 points in 16 games this season with the Laval Rocket, with a differential of +2. Last season? 25 points in 39 games with a differential of +17.

The numbers are there and they are solid! But for some reason that we completely ignore, he was really not in the good graces of his head coach.
