Even though he was practicing as an extra yesterday, here's what the Canadiens just announced, via official statement, regarding Arber Xhekaj.
Good news! So, it's finally a turn of events as Harris will be the one sent to the stands. (and not the Sheriff)
Did Martin St-Louis simply change his mind? No idea, but the result is indeed what matters.
Recall that yesterday, Xhekaj did not have a regular partner during his team's practice and he was the extra defenseman, while Jordan Harris was paired with Johnatan Kovacevic.
So, it was a big clue that the plan was to scratch Xhekaj from the lineup (and to have Harris play with Kovy), but no!
Fortunately, everything changed today and X will play.
Xhekaj, 23 years old, has accumulated three points in 19 games this season with the Canadiens (53 penalty minutes) as well as 11 points in 17 games with the Laval Rocket (34 penalty minutes).
Details to follow.
