As we know, the future is very promising for the Canadiens.

With David Reinbacher and Lane Hutson on defense, as well as Filip Mesar, Owen Beck, and Joshua Roy on the offense, the organization is brimming with quality prospects and it's safe to say this is encouraging for the future.

However, as reported by le site Habsolumentfan.com, there's a prospect few people talk about, but who could literally become a significant asset for the Canadiens in the future.

During his appearance on Tony Marinaro's podcast, The Sick Podcast , former Canadiens scout Grant McCagg praised a certain Oliver Kapanen.

Chosen in the second round by the Canadiens in 2021, the cousin of Kasperi Kapanen, who plays for the Pittsburgh Penguins, should have been, according to McCagg, a first-round pick.

«He should have gone well before that. His injury in the U18 tournament ended up being a good thing for the Canadiens, as there's no other reason why he slipped so far.

To me, he's the most underrated prospect in the organization. He should be an excellent 3rd line center with potential for the 2nd line.»

These are quite encouraging words for the young Finnish prospect who might surprise at the Canadiens' next training camp in September.
