As we reported today, the Habs received a serious trade offer for Sean Monahan, but it was reportedly turned down.
We still don't know if Kent Hughes' plan is to extend the contract of the number 91 or if it's to wait for the bids to rise, but one thing is certain, Monahan seems to be very appreciated by his new employers.
In addition, the center just received an incredible endorsement from his former coach in Calgary, Darryl Sutter. According to him, Monahan is very important in a team:
"Sean would do whatever he was asked to do... He's a captain Sean Monahan. I never saw Sean at his best because he had surgery on both hips... He's played portions of two seasons with major injuries, but Sean Monahan is easy to lead. Good guy." - Darryl Sutter
This statement comes to give ammunition to Kent Hughes in that the plan would be to trade him. However, it could very well be that Monahan is part of the plans in Montreal and that he is the one with ammunition to negotiate his next contract.
