A huge story is finally about to be resolved, as the NHL will announce in a few days the identities of the five players suspended in connection with the "2018 Team Canada Junior" case.
According to numerous sources, including journalist Frank Seravalli, the NHL has indeed decided to suspend five players, including some "very well-known names."
A month ago, Andy Strickland talked about an imminent announcement regarding the players' identities.
And about ten days ago, it was a matter of days, according to Martin Leclerc's sources (Radio-Canada). So, keep a close eye on it this week!
And why is it really imminent this time?
Because NHL team training camps start in less than two weeks, and the NHL absolutely cannot afford to let the camps start without having announced the identities of the five suspended players, for several reasons.
First, the league cannot afford to let these players participate in camp knowing full well that they are guilty (the investigation is already settled, and the results are known).
Secondly, imagine if a player like Carter Hart, or another player who was part of that 2018 ECJ edition, has to miss the beginning of his team's camp for an absolutely valid and personal reason.
That would lead to a lot of unwanted speculation, rumors, and conclusions.
In short, for many good reasons, we will have all our answers in less than two weeks.
And that's a good thing because fans are starting to get impatient, and rightly so.
Multiple sources are talking about an announcement for this week or the next. Stay tuned!
