Saturday night, during the game between the Canadiens and the Seattle Kraken, two special spectators were on the press gallery. According to Pittsburgh Hockey Now, two Pittsburgh Penguins scouts were present at the Bell Center.

Penguins GM Ron Hextall spoke on Friday about his approach to the trade deadline. If he says he feels comfortable with his formation, he would however like to add goal scoring and a forward to his team.

«Would we like to add a bit to the front? Yeah, that would be a fair statement. But I feel good. I don't feel obligated to do anything. But if we can improve, we will definitely try." -Ron Hextall

That's good because the Canadians currently has the kind of player the Penguins could be looking for. With the addition of a Mike Hoffman, the squad of Sidney Crosby might just find the offense they're looking for. Imagine paired with 87 or 71, the Habs forward could be very productive.

Hextall could also bet on another attacker, less flamboyant but recently just as effective offensively in Artturi Lehkonen. The price would however, according to what we understand, be a little higher than Hoffman, while a return like the Blake Coleman trade is hoped for.

The other interesting option for the Pens could have been Jonathan Drouin. The latter is however injured and has not played a game for a long time. He is therefore not the one Hextall wanted to observe this Saturday.

As of now, the Penguins have their 1st and 2nd round picks for the next two drafts. They also have a few young prospects who could be of great interest to the Habs, including Quebecers Samuel Poulin and Pierre-Olivier Joseph. Both players are heavily involved in the Penguins trade rumors.

To add fuel to the fire, Poulin made headlines on Friday night against the Laval Rocket, when he scored three goals in a 6-3 victory for his team. For his part, Joseph finished the game with an assist and a +2 differential.
