In the latest edition of his very popular podcast "32 Thoughts," the renowned Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman confirmed a big rumor involving the Montreal Canadiens and the Edmonton Oilers.

They have indeed discussed (and are still discussing) a possible trade involving goaltender Jake Allen! Wow!

Remember that, after their goaltender Jack Campbell was placed on waivers, we discussed the possibility that it opened up for sending Allen to Edmonton, (and to trade him at a high price).

"[The Oilers], they spoke to Montreal, who do not need a goalie in return, about the possibility of trading Jake Allen. [...]"

He also talks about Juuse Saros and Jordan Binnington, but clearly, Jake Allen and the Habs are their most attainable option.

So this is a big file to follow over the coming days, but know that Kent Hughes and the GM of the Oilers do indeed have a channel of communication and negotiation that is open, it's confirmed.

And it's Jake Allen who would be involved.
