With Shea Weber's injury this year, Jeff Petry has put a lot of pressure on himself to perform well. He has officially become the team's number one defenseman, a role that has greatly affected him.
He admitted that he was constantly trying to do too much, which made his life difficult on the ice. He now feels that he has returned to a process where he keeps things simple.
As a reminder, for the past few days, Petry seemed to have trouble walking. He had a minor injury in the game against the Los Angeles Kings. However, the American defenseman admitted that this injury was not major.
Number 26 praised the work of his team last night, but especially the forwards. He reminded us that the style of play that the Canadiens is practicing is really not easy to play, but that it works a lot.
Petry is slowly finding his timing and touch offensively as the season progresses. This is an encouraging sign for the future. If the Habs are still hoping to make the playoffs, they will need their number one defenseman at the top of his game.
