So much so, that it opens an unexpected door for general manager Kent Hughes.
Following the emergency recalls of Jesse Ylonen, Cayden Primeau, Rem Pitlick and Rafael Harvey-Pinard, the Habs have reached a significant emergency recall limit.
We'll spare you the technical details, but basically, you should know that for the next emergency recall, the Montreal Canadiens will be allowed (exceptionally) to bypass the AHL club-school.
Kent Hughes now has the right to recall a player from the Canadian Hockey League, according to Montreal Hockey Now.
As mentioned by my colleague Nicolas Desrosiers, this means that the Habs could recall a currently signed prospect, with a valid NHL contract, but who is playing in the junior ranks. (for a maximum of five games during the season)
Hughes could therefore recall Owen Beck, Filip Mesar, Riley Kidney or, Joshua Roy!
This would be a short-term emergency recall, but would allow a youngster to get a taste of the NHL and have an audition for a few games.

In recent years, other teams like the Columbus Blue Jackets with Liam Foudy, the Calgary Flames with Sven Baertschi and the Buffalo Sabres Brendan Guhle, have used this option to get out of a tough situation like the Tricolore is currently in.
