For a few weeks now, many rumors have been sending Edmundson to the Edmonton Oilers, but now two other teams are interested in the Habs' defenseman.
As reported by Keven Mawn of Fanadiens.com, the Carolina Hurricanes and Washington Capitals are reportedly interested in Edmundson's services.
At least that's what Arpon Basu and Marc-Antoine Godin said on the The Athletic Support podcast. According to Basu, the Hurricanes will be looking to make a run at the playoffs next spring. As we know, the veteran defenseman is known for being at his best in the playoffs. So there will certainly be interest from them.
As for Godin, he would see the number 44 of the Habs joining the Capitals because the team has very few defensemen under contract for next year, and Edmundson would bring a lot of depth to the defensive brigade.
We know that Kent Hughes will probably be very demanding in terms of the value he will ask for his defenseman and there are certainly players from both teams that the Habs would be interested in.
It remains to be seen if the Hurricanes and Capitals will be able to satisfy the demands of the Habs' general manager.
Remember that Edmundson was acquired by the CH in September 2020 from the Carolina Hurricanes.
So it could be a return to his roots for "Eddy"?
