As the leaders of the Montreal Canadiens continue to prepare for the next season, a big decision could be announced, and we love it.

Numerous players of the Canadiens have praised the attitude of young Cole Caufield and spoken about his major and positive impact in the team's locker room despite his young age, and in this sense, he could soon be assigned a new mandate.

Following the trade concluded between the Montreal Canadiens and the Washington Capitals involving Joel Edmundson, a new assistant captain position has become available.

Could this "A" soon be embroidered on Cole Caufield's jersey?

See what journalist Eric Engels had to say on the matter:

"Brendan Gallagher will be one of the two assistants. Savard is an obvious candidate to be the other. However, it would be interesting to see Caufield rotate in this assistant captain role.

The young 22-year-old signed an eight-season contract and this team will belong to him and Suzuki in the very near future."

Interesting! Do you like the idea? Do you believe the Canadiens should name Cole Caufield assistant captain?

He is already a big pillar in Montreal and already a positive "leader". It would also be a nice way to partly entrust him with the team's leadership.

Another top candidate would be Mike Matheson!

Let's obviously remember that Caufield has just signed an 8-year contract with an annual value of $7.85 million in Montreal.
