It's just happened.
His team's season has officially ended following a 4-1 loss to powerhouse Quinnipac University.
Dobes, a fifth-round pick by the Habs in 2020 (136th overall), could finally sign his first professional contract with Montreal as early as tomorrow.
He's in exactly the same situation as young Sean Farrell was yesterday, and Farrell officially signed this morning.
So it could happen very quickly for Dobes too.
Given that he's a 21-year-old goaltender, however, it's worth mentioning that he's more likely to follow the path laid out by Jayden Struble (rather than Sean Farrell's).
Just like Struble, if he does sign, Jakub Dobes is likely to join the Laval Rocket rather than the Montreal Canadiens.
This will be a closely watched case in the coming hours, but don't be surprised if GM Kent Hughes announces another signing soon.
Dobes played 39 games this season, he amassed 21 wins with an average team, and he maintained a 2.29 average and a 0.920 efficiency rate. (0.934 last season)
