Last week, the Canadiens surprised many by announcing the signing of young defenseman Logan Mailloux to an entry-level contract. Logain had convinced the new CH management not only on the ice, but also off it.
The big defenseman also seems to have won over his teammates, in addition to the staff. According to reports, Mailloux is now a full-fledged member of the organization by his peers.
Wow that's major and we love hearing that. According to some observers, that should be enough to mitigate some criticism.
Mailloux was actually seen with his new teammates throughout the summer. His Instagram account proved it with several pictures with Josh Anderson and Nick Suzuki, among others.
However, the captain is well aware of the events that have blackened the young defender's record. He recently said after a training session that this event "will stay with him for the rest of his life". However, the players seem to have gotten to know the young man and have seen the efforts he has made to repent, as shown in the comments below.
"Each of us can be a better person," the forward continued. I'm 30 years old and still learning. We're here to support him. He's a member of our group, a member of our family." - Brendan Gallagher
"You can see he's worked a lot on himself. He's going to learn from his mistakes. What happened is unfortunate, but I think it will make him a better person in the future. He's ready for a fresh start." - Jake Allen "He's in a good place mentally. We talked a lot together over the summer. He knows he made a mistake, and it's a very sad story for the victim. All he can do today is become a better person, make sure the other guys on the team are aware of the consequences of their actions and that the younger guys learn from that." - Nick Suzuki
One thing is for sure, Mailloux seems to be really well surrounded with the CH, both in and out of the locker room. The organization's Vice President of Community Engagement, Geneviève Paquette, has done a great job of rehabilitating Mailloux among his peers. All that remains is to convince the fans who are not yet giving him a chance to get his act together!
