On Tuesday night, the fans at the Bell Centre offered a tribute to Carey Price. He seemed to appreciate the love that was given to him as he thanked the fans on his Instagram account early Thursday morning.
When asked about the subject, Brendan Gallagher had only good words for the goalie. The one who shared the same locker room with Price for the longest time with the CH (since 2012-2013) even had a suggestion for a tribute for number 31.
"We don't know what the future holds for him, but if we never see him on the ice again, he will have greatly deserved this ovation."
"If it were up to me, there would be a statue of Carey erected outside the Bell Centre. He deserves it. He's a competitor, he fought, he pushed his body to the limit." - Brendan Gallagher
In addition to reminding everyone that Price is a great goaltender, Gallagher reminds everyone how good he is off the ice as well.
"Everyone knows what Carey is worth as a hockey player. What people don't know as much about him is what he is as a person, as a friend and as a teammate." - Brendan Gallagher
The Carey's jersey retirement is currently a source of debate. Could building a statue in his honor be a very good compromise? We'll find out soon enough!
