Before tonight's game against the Nashville Predators, Bergevin gave an interesting interview to journalist Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports.
The GM talked about the offers he received from his counterparts.
"It would have been easy to make a bad deal in the last few weeks. I don't want to mortgage the future. With the things that were presented to me in the last few weeks, you would have been the first to criticize me with good reason."
It's obvious that the other general managers have tried to take advantage of the CH's current situation to get some things out of them. Bergevin doesn't seem to be panicking and reiterated that the solution is in-house.
On the subject of Dominique Ducharme, the general manager also mentioned that his position was far from being in danger at the moment.
"We bring Scotty Bowman here, if a player is not able to make a 10-foot pass, it's not because of the instructor!"
As for Carey Price, Bergevin admitted that things are progressing at their own pace, but that the goalie is still not close to a return to play.
"We have no idea when he'll be back. It's moving along, but maybe not as fast as we thought. I don't have a date to give you unfortunately."
Despite his contract situation, Bergevin seems to want to honor his last year of contract with the Tricolore and that's a credit to him.
