Before the Carolina Hurricanes made an offer sheet of $6.1 million for Jesperi Kotkaniemi, Don Waddell and Marc Bergevin had a dialogue to work out a deal that included "KK". The dialogue hit a dead end and the Canes did what he had to do, which was to table the hostile offer.

During the discussions, Waddell offered a few options to Bergevin, including Nick Suzuki's brother, Ryan. It was Arpon Basu and Marc-Antoine Godin who wisely found out about this information. The options for the Montreal GM were Dominik Bokk, Noel Gunler or Ryan Suzuki.

If the deal didn't happen, it's most likely because it didn't satisfy Marc Bergevin's desires. Maybe he preferred the threat of a hostile bid because of the first pick (and a 3rd pick) as compensation, which allowed him to acquire Christian Dvorak.

Unless "MB" didn't take these offer sheet threats seriously? Although that would surprise me greatly, especially because of the Aho situation. The Canes have a long memory, even if they indicate that the offer to "KK" has no place with that. Yes, we all have a handle on it!
