This transaction, which brought forward Evgeni Dadonov from the Golden Knights to the Ducks, was cancelled by NHL officials because of a no-trade clause included in Dadonov's contract. This clause did not include the California team, so Dadonov is still a member of the Golden Knights.
But as Felix Forget of Danslescoulisses.com reports, this is proving to be a disaster for the Nevada team. The fact that Dadonov is still a member of the Golden Knights right now means the team can't accommodate Alec Martinez and Mark Stone when they are ready to make a return to action.
As they are in the midst of a playoff run, Stone and Martinez are much more important to the team than Dadonov. However, one potential solution could help the Golden Knights.
Sportsnet's Nick Kypreos suggests the team could acquire Shea Weber's contract and in return, Kent Hughes could get his hands on Dadonov and a draft pick.
This is a very complex file, but it has an advantage for both organizations: they will be able to get rid of two pieces of equipment and free up space on their respective payrolls.
As we know, Kent Hughes tried everything to trade Shea Weber's contract, but as we reported earlier today, the NHL refused a trade with the Arizona Coyotes.
Maybe the chances will be better with the team from the Vice City?
