For a guy who was working at Costco, with no real future in professional hockey not so long ago, we agree that Arber Xhekaj is quite a discovery. Despite his rookie status, he leaves no one indifferent.
Xhekaj has already thrown down the gloves several times and he doesn't have to prove his worth on this side anymore. However, the defenseman is not just a goon, he is also a hockey player. With his goal Wednesday night, it was his 24th shot on target at five-on-five, good for third on the team behind Brendan Gallagher and Cole Caufield.
In all, number 72 had 48 shots on net, also third on the team. For those of you who were wondering why the coaching staff is starting to use him on the power play, you have your answer.
