Last week, the Carolina Hurricanes' new forward (and former Vegas Golden Knights), Max Pacioretty, caused quite a stir with a rather surprising statement about the Golden Knights:
Pacioretty talked about a big lack of accountability of the players and that made his former teammates talk.
Notably present at the Gagné-Bergeron Pro-Am last night at the Videotron Center, Jack Eichel wanted to clarify certain things, as reported by TVA Sports Network:
"I think his statement was not well interpreted. I know Max and he was a leader on our team. I don't think he meant that there was no accountability. I think sometimes when you play in a place like Vegas, you can lose track a little bit in the season. It's a different feeling there. I think we all have to be accountable in the room."
Honestly, in response to Eichel, we can confirm that Pacioretty said, verbatim, that there is a clear lack of accountability in this locker room.
For his part, Jonathan Marchessault does not worry too much about this story and he assures that he has kept a great relationship with Pacioretty.
As for Quebec goalie Marc-Andre Fleury, he had this to say:
"When I was there, my goal was to finish with the win. It's surely a coincidence that it happened after I left. They are a very good team, they have a lot of good players. It's a bit of a shame to see how the team turned out. There are a lot of big names that were there at the beginning and left. The chemistry was really good and everyone worked for each other. [But] every season they let three or four guys go."
Very interesting comments from Fleury, who seems (like many people) a bit bitter and at odds with the way the Golden Knights are being managed.
Speaking of Pacioretty, let's recall the big news from yesterday:
