Quebec goaltender Samuel Montembeault delivered a solid performance last night against the Winnipeg Jets, making a number of spectacular saves and giving his team a real chance to come away with the win.
As reported by my colleague Christian Matte (Marqueur.com), Guy Carbonneau even saw some Carey Price looks in his game yesterday.
He's not saying Montembeault is Price, far from it, but his performance yesterday was something! In short, it will have been a very special night for the Quebecer.
When asked about his future, Montembeault sent a clear message to the other managers: he hopes that his hard work to improve will be noticed and he hopes to have proven that he is NHL caliber.
While he wants to play in the NHL and is aware of the situation with the CH, with Carey Price and Jake Allen, Montembeault clearly has a preference:
"If I have the chance to stay here, with the Canadiens, that would be my first option." - Samuel Montembeault
Will that be the case? To be continued!
What would you do if you were Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton?
