For the past few hours, we have been reporting on the ups and downs of the Montreal Canadiens' players since the end of last night's game in Colorado.

First, their flight last night was cancelled due to weather conditions, and then their flight today was delayed due to a mechanical failure on their plane.

Finally, everything indicates that the situation is about to be resolved:

But anyway, despite all this, the Montreal Canadiens players are possibly about to learn some very sad news, as reported by Luc Gélinas of RDS:

"The collective agreement requires NHL clubs to give players three days off at Christmas, unless December 26 is a Saturday, it's two days

It also explains why the CH is concerned about the weather in Montreal and the club will not compromise safety."

"All indications are that Friday's game will be in Dallas. But discussions are currently taking place with the NHL because the CH is concerned that they won't be able to get back to Montreal on the night of the 23rd to 24th to come back and celebrate Christmas with their families."

- Luc Gélinas

Due to all of these unforeseen circumstances and because of the very difficult weather conditions, both in the United States and in Quebec, it is quite possible that the Montreal Canadiens players and staff will unfortunately not be able to return in time to celebrate Christmas with their families and children.

It's heartbreaking, but at least the atmosphere within the team seems to be really good. So they will still be (sort of) with their families.

Let's hope they manage to get back in time, but unfortunately it seems unlikely. Obviously, safety is the priority.
