According to many fans, one of the big missing pieces for the Edmonton Oilers, before they can hope to win a Stanley Cup, is a top-notch goalie.

For the past several years, Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl have had to deal with some of the most inconsistent and unreliable goaltenders in the NHL.

Will their GM finally make a move this summer, to fix that? You be the judge if their choice is the right one, but they would have targeted their man!

According to the excellent David Pagnotta (The Fourth Period), the Edmonton Oilers will aggressively try to acquire goalie Ville Husso from the St. Louis Blues.

With Mikko Koskinen leaving for Europe and Mike Smith possibly retiring, GM Ken Holland is out of options. He must find another goalie.

Husso, 27, has been solid this season. In 40 games, he kept a record of 25 wins, 7 losses and 6 overtime losses, and a goals-against-average of 2.56. (0.919% efficiency rate)

In the playoffs, it got worse: 2 wins, 5 losses, 3.67 GAA and 0.890 SVR.

Remember also that in 2020-21, he was disappointing: 9 wins, 6 losses, 3.21 average and 0.893 efficiency rate (in 17 games)

Is Ville Husso the goalie the Oilers need to reach their ultimate goal? You be the judge.

Nothing is set in stone, but according to Pagnotta, GM Ken Holland is determined to sign Husso this summer, who (barring a major turnaround) will not be back in St. Louis and will become a free agent.
