Among these changes, as reported by Samuel Doiron of HABSolumentFan, there are three that are simple and have been noted.
It can make a difference.
1-First change: Samuel Montembeault named number one goaltender ahead of Jake Allen.
The numbers speak for themselves, as Allen has a record of 15-24-3 this season, compared to 16-17-3 for Montembeault. The Canadiens have a much better chance of winning with Samuel in net as often as possible.
2- Second change: Keeping Rafaël Harvey-Pinard full-time with the Montreal Canadiens and giving him a role that suits him.
The difference was noticeable when he returned to the game, and it seems obvious that the Habs are better with RHP in the lineup. (14 goals and 20 points in 33 games)
3- Third change: Justin Barron inserted as a regular in the lineup and Chris Wideman removed from the roster.
Barron is another player who really seized his opportunity in the second half of the season, and his potential is very interesting. He could really help the Canadiens for 82 games as early as next season.
It may seem surprising as a change, considering that the Canadiens will already have David Savard, Joel Edmundson, Mike Matheson, Jordan Harris, Arber Xhekaj, Kaiden Guhle, Jonathan Kovacevic, and others in the lineup, but Barron really seems to deserve his spot.
