However, a disturbing revelation seems to indicate that Gallagher will be out much longer.
As reported by TVA Sports' excellent Marc-André Perreault, Gallagher is currently wearing a protective boot on his right foot. He's going to be out for a long time.
So his lower body injury is a foot injury, and it seems very clear that Gallagher will not be back in two weeks.
Remember that Sean Monahan was wearing the same boot in early December and he still hasn't returned to the game.
Let's also remember that Gallagher's name was placed on the injured list yesterday by the CH. His absence could be quite long.
It's really unfortunate for him, who has a lot of trouble staying healthy and who, for the past three years, has missed almost as many games as he has played.
He so deserves to be able to play at 100% capacity, and to be able to show what he can do when he's not dealing with injuries, but it's sadly questionable whether that will ever happen for Gallagher.
His injury history is starting to become worrisome and his hefty contract of $6.5 million per year for four more seasons could become a burden.
Gallagher, 30, has 9 points (4 goals) in 25 games this season.
