The young Cayden Primeau is having a tough start to the season with the Montreal Canadiens, and a solution has just been suggested for Kent Hughes.

On BPM Sports radio, during the day on Wednesday, host Georges Laraque proposed a trade involving the young goaltender.

According to him, Kent Hughes has reached this point, and the solution to address the Canadiens' backup goalie issues is to trade Primeau.

Georges Laraque proposes a trade involving Cayden Primeau

Here's what he mentioned during his show.

"My solution? ANYONE. It'll be better!

I don't even want to send him to Laval; give him to another team for a pick or future considerations, that's fine.

Go get a goalie to support Montembeault.

You have no choice but to do that; we can't continue this situation any longer. You need an experienced goalie to challenge Montembeault.

Primeau, it's just not working.

A goalie to back up Monty won't cost much.

Don't forget one thing:

If we overuse Montembeault and he plays too many games, it'll hurt his development."

And the relevant clip:

Honestly, I agree with Laraque on this point.

Montembeault shouldn't be overworked, especially with the Four Nations Cup coming up, and it's clear the Canadiens' management no longer trusts Primeau.

A solution is needed. Does that involve a veteran like Jake Allen?

Does it involve Jakub Dobes or Connor Hughes?

Does it involve a talented goalie who needs a fresh start?

It remains to be seen, but it seems clear that Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton will inevitably need to address this situation sooner rather than later.

Cayden Primeau also deserves a fresh start. Since his disastrous game against the Buffalo Sabres a month ago, on November 11, Primeau has played three games..

Three games in a month, and going back to October 31, that's four games total for Cayden Primeau!

This can't go on much longer, if you ask me.
