It was at 2:00 PM today that Barré-Boulet was to know his fate, and now the verdict has just been announced.
He has not been claimed!
See the official confirmation, but this is excellent news for Pascal Vincent's squad and for the organization overall.
Regarding the Quebec native, Martin St-Louis clearly announced his intentions and clearly stated that Barré-Boulet is still in the Montreal Canadiens' plans.
The head coach simply explained that Barré-Boulet was placed on waivers to make more room for other young players who are performing extremely well at the moment, namely Oliver Kapanen and Emil Heineman.
Martin St-Louis also mentioned that the team didn't need 14 forwards at the moment, and we can completely understand this point.
The Canadiens simply believe that Barré-Boulet will be more useful to the organization by playing significant games with the Laval Rocket rather than staying in the stands in Montreal.
We are convinced that Kent Hughes, Jeff Gorton, Martin St-Louis, and company were likely very pleased to see that Barré-Boulet wasn't claimed today.
As for Barré-Boulet, we're talking about 19 points in 23 games, 84 points in 69 games, and 63 points in 58 games during his last three seasons in the American Hockey League.
Laval Rocket fans are going to love him.
More details to follow.
