To this day, Kent Hughes has still not named a replacement, and it's not even clear if he will do so before the season starts.
Starting the year with three coaches is definitely a possibility.
After all, Martin St-Louis is more than capable of taking on additional responsibilities, or at least, handling the power play.
However, if Kent Hughes ever wanted a candidate well-known in Montreal, and one who could take someone like Ivan Demidov under his wing, you should know that Andrei Markov has just sent quite a message.
After his playing career, Markov actually became a coach (in his home country), and it seems to have given him the coaching bug.
In an interview with Sergey Demidov (RP), Markov indeed mentioned that he is open to becoming a full-time coach.
Hiring Andrei Markov with the Canadiens could be great to help a young player like Ivan Demidov, and it could happen because Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton have already proven (many times) that they are not afraid to take risks like this... But let's just say it remains a very "long shot" as a suggestion.
Just know that the Canadiens still have a vacant assistant coach position, and that Andrei Markov would like to become a full-time coach.
It's up to you to judge whether the connection between the two can be made or not.
