Beloved Canadiens Broadcaster Pierre Houde Honoured for His 35 Years of Amazing Work
The official play-by-play announcer for the Montreal Canadiens on RDS, Pierre Houde, has just received the Foster Hewitt Award, as you may know.
The award was officially presented yesterday, and for the occasion, Alain Crête took over the call for the Montreal Canadiens game against the Buffalo Sabres.
In connection with this, the Canadiens organization once again showed great class in the past few hours by publishing a beautiful official statement in honor of Pierre Houde. A legend.
A Wonderful Official Statement from the Habs for Pierre Houde
See the publication in question:
« The Canadiens would like to wholeheartedly congratulate Pierre Houde on being named the 2024 Foster Hewitt Memorial Award recipient.
Pierre, it is nothing short of a privilege to have been able to have you by our side for more than 35 years calling the play-by-play of our games. Your hard work is matched only by your professionalism, and your iconic voice has touched the hearts of more than a generation of Canadiens fans watching our games on television.»

Wow, we love it! So well said!
We, too, join the Montreal Canadiens in congratulating Pierre Houde, who is truly a media legend and has inspired so many more people than he might realize. (just like Chantal Machabée, by the way)
Pierre will be back on duty to call the Montreal Canadiens game against the Minnesota Wild (on RDS), as Martin St-Louis's team hits the road.
A quick word in closing to acknowledge Alain Crete's excellent work in Pierre Houde's place. (the same goes for Bruno Gervais)
