We have spent a lot of time wondering who would complete the trio of Kirby Dach and Alex Newhook, and we assumed that the first line would remain unchanged, but all of this could change rather quickly.
In a press conference following last night's loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins, head coach Martin St-Louis hinted at significant changes to come.
Check out his exact statement.
He admitted that he is seriously considering making changes to his top-six.
If it were your decision, what would you do?
The idea would obviously be to get Kirby Dach back on track, who is having a slow start to the season (which is understandable), but would you be open to breaking up the first line, which consists of Cole Caufield, Nick Suzuki, and Juraj Slafkovsky?
If so, what would your top two lines be?
If not, which player would you place on the second line alongside Dach and Alex Newhook?
Kirby Dach, only 23 years old, is a 6-foot-4, 221-pound forward. He was the third overall pick by the Chicago Blackhawks in 2019 (1st round), and he has accumulated 100 points in 216 career games in the NHL.
Last season, he recorded 2 points in 2 games, and this season, 1 point in 4 games.
If the Montreal Canadiens want to have a chance to be "in the mix" this year, Martin St-Louis must find a way to get Dach back on track.
The Canadiens' head coach also mentioned potential other significant changes, particularly on defense (with the return of Jayden Struble), so these will definitely be stories to watch during tomorrow morning's practice.
