Canadiens player wrote directly to insider Elliotte Friedman, and sent him a big request
It's rare to see this, but we've just learned that a Montreal Canadiens player wrote directly to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman.
In the category of unusual news, here's a good one.
It involves the player who's probably generating the most buzz around the Habs right now, the one who was compared twice to Quinn Hughes yesterday... Of course, we're talking about Lane Hutson.
A Canadiens player wrote directly to Elliotte Friedman to ask him to keep an eye on Lane Hutson
It's rare to see this, but we love it!
It's also interesting to see that some players are directly in touch with a journalist like Friedman. (We're starting to understand why he has so much insider information.)
Anyway, Sportsnet insider Friedman shared on the latest episode of his podcast 32 Thoughts that a Canadiens player sent him a direct message, asking him to keep an eye on Lane Hutson this year.
Hutson could really be a contender for the Calder Trophy, which is awarded to the NHL's Rookie of the Year.
The player in question added more.
One of the Canadiens players texted me, saying: «Lane Hutson is going to make a run for the Calder this year.»
It's still early, I know, but apparently, from what this guy told me, during the Canadiens' practices, they were saying: «Can you believe what this kid can do?»

Clearly, Canadiens players seem to really think Lane Hutson will be an NHL player this year. Interesting.

The team captain, Nick Suzuki, also seems to have high hopes for young Hutson:
We really can't wait to see him in action over the next few weeks.
