Goaltender Cayden Primeau simply hasn't done the job this season with the Montreal Canadiens.

Even if we look at a larger sample size, even if we consider everything he's done since the start of his NHL career, it becomes clear that Primeau has never been consistent and has never truly proven that he's NHL caliber.

All of this, combined with the fact that yesterday's game against the Buffalo Sabres was probably the last straw, led expert Denis Gauthier to say that he's seen enough.

It would be over for Cayden Primeau with the Montreal Canadiens if the decision were up to Denis Gauthier

Let's remember that the Canadiens won 7-5 against the Buffalo Sabres on Monday afternoon, in a game Montreal almost lost because of Primeau.

It's sad, but that's the reality.

The team allowed five goals but gave up only one high-quality scoring chance. That's not normal.

Primeau, who allowed five goals on 14 shots before being pulled from the game yesterday, should he be put on NHL waivers today?

In any case, according to Denis Gauthier, the elastic has stretched to its limit, and he's seen enough. He wouldn't even be surprised if Primeau has already played his last game with the Habs, or at least, his last game in the short/medium term.

See the clip in question, right here:

Primeau, 25, has an unacceptable save percentage of 0.845 this season, with a goals-against average of 4.68, and only one win in seven starts.

Even in his career, he has an average of 3.63 and a save percentage of 0.887.

And if it were your decision, what would you do with Primeau?
