Prodigy James Hagens Speaks Out on the Possibility of Joining the Canadiens, Confirming His Interest
With a tough start to the season, the Montreal Canadiens are in a surprisingly good position to win the lottery for the next NHL draft.
The draft, set to take place in June 2025, features top prospects in a class expected to be excellent, including American forward James Hagens, whom some experts are already comparing to Jack Hughes of the New Jersey Devils.
James Hagens speaks out on the possibility of joining the Montreal Canadiens
By a stroke of luck, TVA Sports journalist Nicolas Cloutier recently published an article about the player projected to be the first overall pick in the NHL draft.
The article mentions that if there's one player within the Canadiens organization who knows Hagens well and could sell him on the city of Montreal, it's Michael Hage.
The Canadiens' first round pick in the recent draft held in Vegas last June, Hage knows James Hagens very well and has nothing but good things to say about him.
«He's one of my good friends. My brother played with him for a long time. He's a live wire. Always the clown. He's incredibly talented. He dictates the game. He always wants the puck. Coaches want players of his caliber, those who want to change the flow of the game.»
Michael Hage
Moreover, Hage isn't the only one who could highlight the benefits of being part of the Canadiens to Hagens, as one of his teammates at Boston College is already part of the Canadiens' organization.
Young goalie Jacob Fowler, the Canadiens' third-round pick in 2023, is having an outstanding season, and Hagens himself has only praise for the 19-year-old netminder.
«He's one of the best goalies in the country, obviously. He makes it look easy, and for a goalie, that's an achievement. He's so good. It's tough to beat him. You take the goals when they come»
James Hagens
This bodes well for the American goalie and his future in the organization, and who knows, maybe they'll be teammates again with the Montreal Canadiens.
The young prodigy even mentioned he would love to join the Canadiens:
«Montreal is such a beautiful place, and it would be so cool to play there.»
We love it.
